Ipsos refers to the decisive battle of Ipsos, which took place in central Phrygia in 301 bce , after a coalition of Successors formed to remove Antigonos I Monophthalmos and his son Demetrios I Poliorketes from power. The coalition was victorious, carving up much of the Antigonid kingdom. Although Antigonos lost his life in the fighting, his son Demetrios was able to flee and remained a powerful force to be reckoned with. Demetrios eventually recovered his fortunes and became king of the Macedonians.
