The Old Babylonian period in Mesopotamia (twentieth–sixteenth centuries BCE ) is best known for the well‐documented reigns of Hammurabi, king of Babylon, and his son Samsu‐iluna, which constitute the apogee of this period. They belong to a line of ten kings who form the 1st Dynasty of Babylon.
