Lysippos (active ca. 370–316/300 bce ) was one of the most innovative sculptors of the late Classical and Hellenistic periods, working primarily in bronze and equally adept at portraiture, depictions of deities, heroes, personifications, and even animals, all in different scales. His versatility, innovations, and productivity (more than 1,500 statues) ensured his everlasting fame in antiquity and beyond.
