What are some of the trending areas and hot developments in Indigenous knowledge? Chapter 2 reviewed seven overlapping areas in which traditional ecological knowledge has been important at the local as well as global level: biological knowledge, ecological insights to inform resource stewardship; conservation of protected areas and biodiversity; socioeconomic development; environmental monitoring and assessment; climate change adaptation; and environmental ethics. Chapter 3 described the workings of a sample of Indigenous knowledge and resource stewardship systems in a variety of ecosystem settings, with more detail on some of them in Chapter 7 . As well, conservation and climate change received chapter-length treatment.
