Sobeknofru was the first female with a full Pharaonic titulary to rule over Egypt. The daughter of Amenemhet III, she was the last ruler of the 12th Dynasty of the Egyptian Middle Kingdom, and the first female Pharaoh known from contemporary sources. Unlike some later queens, Sobeknofru always presented herself as female. Although she only reigned three years and her burial place is unknown, Sobeknofru was acknowledged as legitimate by the first ruler of the 13th Dynasty.
