Nearchos was Alexander the Great's admiral and boyhood friend. In 325 bce after descending the plain of the Indian rivers, he sailed again from the mouth of the Indus westwards to the mouth of the Euphrates. Nearchos’ account is handed down indirectly in the second part of Arrian's Indica .
