The name Lullubi or Lullu (and variants), attested in mid‐third to first millennium BCE Mesopotamian sources, designates both a geographic region in the area of Suleimaniyah in the Zagros mountains and a heterogeneous population inhabiting that region. The ethnolinguistic affiliation of the people called Lullu(bi) is uncertain (on their onomasticon in the first millennium, see Zadok 2002).
