Positive psychology (PP) is a relatively recent approach that differs from traditional mainstream psychology in that it attempts to balance human dysfunction with what makes people thrive. Based on the three pillars of positive experiences, character traits, and institutions, some of PP's main tenets include notions such as well‐being, character strengths, positive emotion, flow, and growth mindsets that encourage resilience, grit, and perseverance. From these principles, positive psychology interventions (PPIs) have been created as a means for individuals to thrive, among which are exercises such as expressing gratitude, performing acts of kindness, using signature strengths in novel ways, savoring and finding silver linings. Researchers and practitioners in multilingual development have been experimenting with their success in language learning and teaching by implementing PPI objectives alongside linguistic aims in the classroom.
