The Codex Justinianus is a compilation of edited extracts of laws and rulings issued by Roman emperors between the second and sixth centuries CE, which exists today only in its Second Edition of 534. Under instructions issued by the emperor Justinian in February 528, a commission of officials and jurists was appointed to compile the Code.
