Rabbi Shimon ben Laqish was one of the most important Palestinian Amoraim. Like Rabbi Johanan ( see Johanan, Rabbi), with whom he routinely dialogued, he flourished in Tiberias, one of the major cities in Palestine, with a heavy concentration of Rabbis.
