This priestly college, literally, “seven men for sacrificial banquets,” was established by plebiscite ( see Plebiscitum) at the instigation of the tribune C. Licinius Lucullus in Rome in 196 BCE (Livy 33.42.1), and one ofits first three members was Licinius himself.
