Amy Snyder Ohta (1962– ) is best known for her application of Vygotsky's sociocultural theory to second language learning and development. She is also widely recognized as one of the first scholars who conducted extensive research on the development of interactional competence of adult learners of Japanese through microanalysis of classroom interactions.
