Kubaba was the principal goddess of Carchemish during the late second and early first millennia bce . The name Kubaba (written Ku‐ba‐ba or Ku‐pa‐pa ) is attested in several cuneiform tablets found at Hattusa, the Hittite capital, including lists of gods in rituals, descriptions of festivals, and prayers. A number of references to the goddess in the Luwian hieroglyphic inscriptions of Carchemish testify to the importance of her cult in the first centuries of the first millennium bce .
