Charondas was a lawgiver of Katane in Sicily, active during the sixth century bce . Very little is known about his life. Aristotle ( Pol . 1296a21) claims that he originated “from among the middle citizens.” Similarly to other Archaic lawgivers, late traditions associate Charondas with a number of fanciful episodes.
