In modern collective imagination, ancient Egypt is closely connected with the curse of the pharaohs. The most popular expression of it is the so‐called curse of King Tutankhamun (18th Dynasty), which appeared in the media less than one year after the discovery of his tomb in 1922 and was related to supposedly mysterious deaths (Silverman 1988).
