Kronos (Roman Saturn) was the father of Zeus in myth, a symbol of the generational conflict that threatened cosmic stability before Zeus' supremacy; the tradition develops over time to associate him with Utopian conditions of a “Golden Age.” The oldest and most complete depiction of Kronos can be found in the seventh‐century BCE epic cosmogony, Hesiod's Theogony .
