This chapter provides an introduction to corpus approaches to health communication. In it, we explore some of the earlier and more recent scholarship in this area, and, in doing so, pick out some key principles and themes which have emerged in the field. We begin by exploring corpus research into language in more obvious healthcare contexts, like GP consultations, before considering less obvious forms of health(care) discourse, like news and online forums. Finally, we reflect on some of the challenges of working with health(care) data and offer some suggestions on how these may be circumvented.
