Introduction: Aging is a process characterized by biological and psychological changes, including social and cultural factors, such as gender. Self-care and socialization skills are essential for the experience of healthy aging and are often poorly developed by older men. Therefore, the objective of this study was to promote self-care and socialization skills in older men in adult day care in Mexico City. Methodology: A mixed, descriptive, quasi-experimental study was conducted without a control group. Through an initial diagnosis using semi-structured interviews, an educational initiative a 10-session was designed and implemented with older man from two adult day care and evaluated through focus groups and the WHOQOL BREF questionnaire. Results: The sample consisted of 8 men aged 82 ± 10 years, with variations according to their place of residence, marital status, and age group. No statistically significant difference (p>0.05) was identified between the PRE and POST evaluation, but focus groups revealed the development of self-care skills for maintaining psychological health and improved perception of the participants’ immediate environment. Conclusions: This educational initiative had positive results in promoting self-care and socialization skills in older men attending this adult day care.
