The objective of this study is to analyze the comparative study of multidimensional poverty among rural and peri-urban households in the Siltie zone, central Ethiopia. 416 respondents were selected, and a mixed research approach, the Alkire & Foster methodology, and an ordered logistic regression model are used. Results show that 89 per cent of the sample households are multidimensional poor, with intensity and severity of 78.2 per cent and 69.6 per cent, respectively. Multidimensional poverty is higher in rural areas (71.5 per cent) than in peri-urban areas. Furthermore, it is higher in the Midland area (72.4 per cent) than in highland areas. Gender, education level, labor, income, and frequency of extension contact are inhibitors of multidimensional poverty, whereas farm size and area of residence contributors to multidimensional poverty. Policy should give top priority to women-headed households and midland areas, and improving rural infrastructure, services, market connectivity, and livelihood opportunities.
