The archaeobotanical, nitrogen and carbon stable isotope analyses and direct 14C AMS-dating were used to return the lost context to two cereal grain assemblages kept in the State Historical Museum. The archaeobotanical analysis of the selected grains defined their morphological character and assigned them to wheat species: Tr. aestivumsubsp. Aestivum and Tr. turgidumL. subsp. dicoccum(Schrank ex Schübl.) Thell. The data on the direct radiocarbon dating of five specimens are consistent with the chronology of Trypillia sites C1—C2, i.e. 4600—3600 calBC. We think that one of the assemblages can be linked to the lost collection of grains from the Khalepye village found during the excavations carried out by V.V. Khvoyka in 1895. The second assemblage comes from the Chernovtsy Museum, probably, originating in one of the Trypillia sites in the micro-region around the town of Chernovtsy. The analysis of the nitrogen and carbon isotopic composition of 15 wheat grains from Khalepye and Chernovtsy and wheat grains from other Trypillia sites as well as the southern Caucasus and northern Kazakhstan confirms this conclusion. Agricultural strategies that probably included use of organic fertilizers (animal manure) were known to the population that cultivated wheat found at Khalepye. Aestivum и Tr. turgidum L. subsp. dicoccum (Schrank ex Schübl.) Thell.
