Relatos terríveis de contrabando e tráfico de pessoas da República Dominicana em direção a Porto Rico atraiu a atenção da mídia nos últimos 20 anos. Baseado em entrevistas com agentes governamentais e não governamentais, este artigo examina a invisibilidade das necessidades e problemas de dominicanos em Porto Rico. Eu argumento que em conjunção com sua omnipresença em espaços de trabalho íntimos, frequentemente sexualizados (bares, cafés, espaços domésticos e de cuidado), as mulheres dominicanas são sujeitos invisíveis que não são consideradas como vulneráveis e merecedoras de proteção social e apoio. A racialização das mulheres dominicanas num contexto xenofóbico, suas trajetórias de trabalho sexualizado e o marco para compreender o tráfico de pessoas em níveis nacionais e internacionais fazem delas uma população invisível e ilegível, que provavelmente não receberá qualquer atenção da ou assistência social, seja ela estatal ou da sociedade civil
