For the purpose of this article, the study of gramdan in village Berain will be confined to 1) the changes that are expected to occur when a village accepts gramdan, within a broad framework, 2) the changes that have been induced in Berain subsequent to the acceptance of gramdan by the village, and 3) the consequences of such induced changes
