In this article we explore work organization and its relationship to the interdependence of working conditions and job satisfaction among Nova Scotian Offshore Fishermen. Drawing from ethnographic and survey data, we describe and examine the variation of work organization within the fishery. After identifying the factors that contribute to job satisfaction we evaluate a series of hypotheses about how the work situation contributes to job satisfaction. Results from our factor analysis are compared to the results of other studies of North Atlantic fishermen that used the same questionnaire format
