Une sociologue americaine de la medecine s'epanche a l'occasion de son discours de reception de la Leo G. Reeder Award. Tour d'horizon des tendances actuelles de la sociologie medicale americaine par rapport a la recherche dans le domaine du genie biomedicale, aux grands problemes contemporains de la bioethique, et au vieillissement de la population. Un regret: la sociologie americaine devrait, a l'instar de l'europeenne se pencher davantage sur l'etude des attitudes devant les nouveaux grands syndromes (SIDA, etc.)
