A nyone engaging in any heathen dance... shall be fined five dollars warned the Tonga Gazette on March 7, 1888. And on December 6, 1882, an act regulating the schools announced: It shall be with the Schoolmasters to regulate the native dances, as the Lakalaka and the Otuhaka, and it is not lawful for the children to engage in these in different places and at different times, but as arranged by the Schoolmaster; should any child break the regulation, he or she shall on conviction be fined in the sum of one dollar
