This paper examines whether government ideology has influenced the public expenditure in Jalisco. Using a longitudinal case study, this research compares PAN (2007-2012) and PRI (2013-2018) governments to show their decisions on public expenditure. The results suggest that there are differences between the two governments and that ideology influences on public spending, but only in some items
