Resumo

Je n'aurais qu'une seule critique sérieuse à formuler contre le livre de l'historien américain Peter Paret; pourquoi le titre Clausewitz and the State ? Le livre constitue une véritable biographie et les idées de Clausewitz sur l'État, heureusement d'ailleurs, ne tiennent qu'une place modeste dans ce livre d'histoire à la fois intellectuelle et sociale. Je souscris sans réserve au jugement du professeur Félix Gilbert: ' This is a scholarly work of the highest distinction. Although for more as a century Clausewitz has been recognized as the greatest military thinker of modem times, the growth of this ideas and the development of his théories hâve never been investigated with such thoroughness and presented with such clarity... '.
