This article aims to restore the complexity and multiplicity of the functions of critique in Pierre Bourdieu's sociology. It first has a theoretical and scientific function that allows for a Bachelard-type epistemological break. It then has a self-reflexive function that allows the knowing subject to be objectified by making them aware of the epistemic (and partly social) privileges of their scholarly condition. It is only in this context that it is possible to consider the relationship of this sociology to social critique, which also emerges as a moral and political duty. However, this dimension does not stem from a militant posture of denunciation, as is often claimed. On the contrary, it presupposes the fulfillment of conditions that make sociology a science. The article considers one of the possible forms of this dimension of social critique, which can make the sociologist a spokesperson
