This report provides a preliminary assessment of the mineral resource potential of northwestern New Mexico. It serves as an introduction to a series of forthcoming publications that will detail specific mineral commodities and districts within the region. The study area encompasses a diverse geological terrain, including Precambrian basement rocks, Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary formations, and Tertiary volcanic fields. This introductory overview highlights the known mineral occurrences and discusses the geological factors that control their distribution. It sets the stage for more detailed investigations into the economic viability of these resources
