This case report details an unusual presentation of Chikungunya virus infection in a child returning from Benin. While malaria is a common concern for travelers to the region, this case highlights the importance of considering other infectious diseases. The child presented with symptoms suggestive of meningitis, and subsequent investigations confirmed Chikungunya as the causative agent. This case emphasizes the need for clinicians to maintain a broad differential diagnosis when evaluating febrile illnesses in returning travelers, even from regions known for specific endemic diseases
