Resumo

This exploratory qualitative study investigates the diverse reactions within Toronto's Black community regarding the establishment of the first public Africentric school. It explores the hopes, fears, and reservations surrounding the school's potential impact on Black youth and the broader Black Canadian community. The research situates these perspectives within the context of racism and social exclusion experienced by racialized minorities in Canada, particularly focusing on the experiences of Black Canadians. The study utilizes qualitative interviews with members of the Black community and employs theoretical frameworks to analyze their responses, examining the school's role in promoting social inclusion within mainstream Canadian society.
