Resumo
This chapter examines the changing role of ethnography in a globalized world, focusing on the intersection of expertise, management, and cultural processes. Holmes and Marcus argue that traditional ethnographic methods need to be reconfigured to address the complexities of globalization. They explore how various forms of expertise, including those of anthropologists themselves, are mobilized and contested in global arenas. The chapter analyzes the emergence of new "cultures of expertise" that shape the management of global flows of information, capital, and people. It emphasizes the need for ethnography to engage with these evolving power dynamics and to develop new strategies for understanding and representing the complexities of global assemblages.
