This article analyzes the public spaces of a neglected neighborhood on the periphery of Venice, focusing on how residents experience these spaces daily. Three locations are examined to understand their affective significance for the inhabitants: the porticoes sheltering the shops, the bar (particularly its entrance), and the landing stage, the arrival and departure point of the neighborhood. The analysis highlights the emotional bonds between inhabitant and dwelling, even where the architecture is formally poor and anonymous, as in Sacca Fisola. These bonds contribute to the inhabitant's identity in relation to Sacca Fisola and thus participate in the "quality of space" in this neighborhood. More generally, the analysis investigates how public spaces, even in a neglected neighborhood, can be described in terms of symbolic charge and thus be considered valued spaces by those who use them. Any intervention for sanitation or renovation of the neighborhood would therefore find here a means of approaching the lived experience of the inhabitant
