This article reflects on the contemporary crisis in clinical psychology and psychopathology. Drawing on his experience as a professor in the field, René Kaës identifies four key points: 1) The crisis is not merely external but also internal, affecting the theoretical, methodological, and practical foundations of the discipline. 2) The critique of clinical psychology, particularly its psychoanalytic roots, often reveals a resistance to the psychic reality, the unconscious, and the effects of subjectivity. 3) There is an urgent need to establish and teach a historical and critical epistemology of clinical psychology. 4) The expanding field of clinical psychology requires concrete measures, such as anticipating and contributing to the formulation of social demands and ensuring the training of clinical psychologists through synergistic partnerships between universities and professional institutions
