Resumo
This article explores the complex relationship between anthropology and colonialism, examining how the discipline has both benefited from and been shaped by its historical entanglement with colonial power structures. Pels argues that while anthropology has made significant strides in acknowledging and critiquing its colonial past, there is still much work to be done in decolonizing anthropological knowledge production. He examines how colonial ideologies continue to influence anthropological theory and practice, and calls for a more reflexive and critical approach to understanding the discipline's history and its ongoing implications for the present.
