Resumo

This review essay discusses "Iconoclash: Beyond the Image Wars in Science, Religion and Art," an exhibition and accompanying catalogue that explored the complex and often contradictory role of images in shaping human understanding across various domains. The exhibition challenged conventional notions of iconoclasm, demonstrating that image destruction is often intertwined with image creation and that the power of images lies not only in their presence but also in their absence or potential destruction. Moxey, Latour, and Weibel highlight the dynamic interplay between images, beliefs, and power structures, arguing that iconoclasm is not simply a destructive act but a transformative process that reshapes cultural and intellectual landscapes.
