Resumo
This article examines the Javari ritual among the Kuikuro of the Upper Xingu, Brazil. It seeks to understand how a rustic, vaguely anthropomorphic doll becomes the central figure in a ritual drama. The analysis focuses on the action and use of speech in a relational context involving the simultaneous presence of three terms: the speaker, the effigy, and the recipient. Finally, it demonstrates how the doll serves as a support for incompatible relationships: symmetrical and horizontal between affines-enemies, and complementary and vertical between the living and the dead.
