The strategy of ethnohistory can be applied in dealing with contemporary social problems in the United States. This is demonstrated through the application of ethnohistorical methodology in the analysis of 205 WASP (White-Anglo Saxon-Protestant) settlements in 12 Kentucky counties, settlements likely to be affected by future stream control measures taken within the state
