The(abbreviatedBM) 'Garland of Devotees' of Nābhā Dās (abbreviated N), which dates from the period A.D. 1600-20,lhas long been known as a compendium of information regarding India's most celebrated Hindū devotees, and recognized as of great value for the history of Northern, particularly of thesects, and for its account of the conditions under which Hinduism flourished at the end of the sixteenth century. Such information as it gives us on secular matters is incidental and, on account of N's laconic style, frequently uncertain of interpretation
