In this paper we discuss the concept of Formative. Although a fundamental category which characterized processes that took place in America, nowadays this concept seems inapropiate to take account for the Andean history between the IV and II millenium BC. In contrast, and under a holistic and analytic matrix, we describe a process that may be understood, as formative-without considering the pottery, in the Northern and Central Andean regions. We start considering the thesis that people development was uneven by solving a variety of material conditions. Therefore, history may record the articulations of these processes generating combined histories allowing the generalization of these experiences
