This short essay sketches a panoramic view over the work of the Argentine writer Juan Jose Saer, who died in June 2005. The author tries to define his literary project and states that the comprehension of his work depends on the possibilities of seeing it beyond the limits of Latin America and in comparison to occidental literature as a hole
