Investigo, neste estudo, o relacionamento problemático entre a antro- pologia e o cristianismo conservador, representado pelo Pentecostalismo ligado à Teologia da Prosperidade. Meu interesse não está apenas nos complexos limites erigidos entre a prática social científica e a religiosa, mas também nas formas como ambas envolvem a construção de orientações éticas para o mundo, orientações essas que são persistentemente construídas pela implantação de fronteiras que atuam entre o primeiro e o segundo plano da perspectiva ética. Uma das implicações do meu argumento é que precisamos prestar mais atenção na temporalidade do enquadramento ético da ação. A outra é que a antropologia deve reconhecer o aspecto fragmentado, e até mesmo irônico e lúdico, da prática pentecostal
