This text analyzes the afro-brazilian religions worshiped in Rio Grande do Sul, namely: Batuque, Umbanda and Linha Cruzada.After presenting the available data about those religions, the text points out the mains characteristics of each one, inscribing them in the history of Rio Grande do Sul.Finally, it shows some clarifying hints about the "relative success" of these religions in this State, if compared to the rest of the country
