O artigo analisa o processo de reestruturação produtiva em uma empresa uruguaia de laticínios. O objetivo deste trabalho é evidenciar que a reestruturação produtiva é também um processo social, visto que os diferentes agentes são afetados pelas transformações em curso e devem modificar seus posicionamentos no espaço social. Analisa-se as lutas e negociações em relação ao processo geral de reestruturação de plantas industriais; a busca empresarial de colaboração da força de trabalho; e a resistência sindical à multifuncionalidade e à formação de uma camada restrita de trabalhadores com domínio de competências. A metodologia incluiu fontes estatísticas, aplicação de questionários e de entrevistas, e observação nos locais de trabalho. Os resultados mostram uma reestruturação negociada que cria desconfiança entre empresa e trabalhadores. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: trabalho, reestruturação produtiva, flexibilidade, indústria, Uruguai. NEGOTIATED RESTRUCTURING AND FLEXIBILIZAÇÃO IN AN URUGUAYAN INDUSTRIAL COMPANY Pedro Robertt This paper analyzes the process of productive restructuring in an Uruguayan company of dairy products. The objective of this work is to show that the productive restructuring is also a social process, because the different agents are affected by the transformations in course and will modify their positionings in the social space. The struggles and negotiations in relation to the general process of restructuring of industrial plants are analyzed; the enterpreneurial search of cooperation of the workforce; and union resistance to the multifuncionality and to the formation of a restricted layer of workers with domain of skills. The methodology included statistical sources, application of questionnaires and interviews, and observation in the work places. The results show a negotiated restructuring that creates distrust between business and workers. KEYWORDS: work, productive restructuring, flexibility, industry, Uruguay. RESTRUCTURATION NÉGOCIÉE ET FLEXIBILISATION DANS UNE ENTREPRISE INDUSTIRELLE URUGUAYENNE Pedro Robertt Cet article étudie le processus de restructuration productive dans une entreprise uruguayenne de produits laitiers. L'objectif de ce travail est de faire remarquer que la restructuration productive est aussi un processus social puisque les différents agents sont touchés par les transformations en cours et qu'ils doivent modifier leurs attitudes dans l'espace social. On y analyse les luttes et les négociations par rapport au processus général de restructuration des plans industriels, la recherche d'une collaboration de la force de travail par les entreprises ainsi que la résistance syndicale face aux fonctions multiples et à la formation d'une couche limitée de travailleurs dotés de compétences. La méthodologie inclut le recours à des statistiques, à des questionnaires et des entretiens, et à des observations sur les lieux de travail. Les résultats montrent une restructuration négociée qui engendre une méfiance entre les entreprises et les travailleurs.
