The independence of Brazil allowed new political arrangements in the Province Cisplatin, disputed territory since the colonial period between the Iberian empires and, later, between Brazilian forces and buenairenses in the Cisplatine War. This complicated relationship between different groups, identities and alterities, the conflict between Brazil and the United Provinces of the River Plate, made possible the emergence of new elements of differentiation and identification attached to the two principals involved in the feud, however, mainly highlighted the orientality José Gervasio Artigas inherited, this time covering the entire territory, including the capital Montevideo, key element in further legitimizing discourse of the independent nation of the Republic of Uruguay, I propose, in Brazil had an important element of counterpoint and external differentiation and internal approach. Elements to be analyzed in this work
