The author presents a social and demographic analysis of historical New England in the United States. This investigation is based on records of 22164 people who either migrated to New England before 1650 or were born there between 1620 and 1649. The data come from James Savages Genealogical Dictionary of New England supplemented modified and corrected by genealogies and passenger lists...town county and colony records town and church histories and firsthand accounts. The lives collectively span the time between the 1560s and the 1740s. An attempt is made to examine both the unique and the representative populace of that time period. (EXCERPT)
