Snowing Carl Phillips (bio) At last, they had reached the blue meadow that the seagets called there—he lay down, fell asleepbeside it . . . His horse, seeming strangely naked, itsbridle and saddle having long ago beenabandoned somewhere, stood motionless,a dark shore of its own. How longhad the two of them been traveling? From how far away? What was the horse's name when the manwould sing to it, riding by starlight, and what was itssecret name? Now that it can, why doesn't the horse run free?
