P. Etienne - Time and the individual among the Baule. Time division among the Baule is not homochronical, and time itself does not appear as a lineal continuum. There follows a contradiction between the way a person's age is reckoned and the daily practices based on age différences, as evidenced, for instance, in kinship terminology. There are no real age-sets, despite the fact that there are Baule words for 'age-mates
