J.-F. Vincent - On the Trail of Major Denham: Northern Cameroon One Hundred and Fifty Years ago. Mandara, 'Kirdi' and Fulani. A re-examination on the spot of Denham's Narrative concerning the kingdom of Mandara, confronted with today's local historical tradition. On the whole, the Narrative is extremely precise: most geographical details can be identified on modem maps. As for the description of relations between the local people, pagans, Fulani and Mandara, it is confirmed by oral tradition
