Este ensaio procura apresentar uma imagem do poeta Vinicius de Moraes ainda pouco conhecida do público leitor. Pesquisas no acervo do escritor, depositado na Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa, no Rio de Janeiro, mescladas à leitura dos aspectos sociais e culturais da obra do autor, revelam um artista e um intelectual comprometido politicamente com o Brasil e interessado nas expressões da arte popular do país.Palavras-chave: Vinicius de Moraes, cultura, política.Abstract: This essay intends to present the image of the poet Vinicius de Moraes, still relatively unknown by the reading public in general. Researches on the writer's works, kept by Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa, in Rio de Janeiro, supported by the reading of the social and cultural aspects of the author's works, reveal an artist and an intellectual, politically commited with Brasil and interested in the country's expressions of popular art.Keywords: Vinícius de Moraes, culture, politics
